About twenty minutes after Before Sunrise, the light had changed completely. The sun had reached the far cliffs and the right side of the canyon, and the arch went from an even glow to warm side light.

I dropped a little lower, kept mostly the same angle, and turned the camera vertical. From there the rock builds the frame in layers: boulders in the foreground, the arch across the middle, then the valley and the distant cliffs behind it.

The trail wasn’t busy yet. A few people had walked out onto the span, so I waited until it cleared, and the arch stands on its own in this one.
