We walked in from the Baldwin Trailhead on the Templeton Trail for this exact view, timed for sunset. My wife, my niece and my best friend’s family made the walk with me. The wind was gusting hard enough that launching the drone felt like a gamble, and I sent it up anyway.

As the sun dropped behind the rock, the light wrapped around the edges of the spires and lit the sandstone from behind. That warm glow against the cool greens of the brush below gave the whole scene a complementary palette I couldn’t have planned.

From the air you’re level with the spires instead of looking up at them, with the last light of the day spilling over the top.
