Shot during my first trip to Iceland in 2022, this aerial image captures ice chunks scattered across the black volcanic sand of Breiðamerkursandur — better known as Diamond Beach. From above, the contrast between the glacier remnants and the surf creates a surreal pattern that almost resembles a spilled fountain drink.
The Icelandic name rolls off the tongue like poetry, and it felt right to use it here. The photograph blends texture, contrast, and simplicity — a quiet freeze-frame of a truly wild place.
