Sedona, Arizona – 2026
Same night, same spot. I turned the camera to the ridge just left of Courthouse Butte and opened the shutter for a few seconds.
During the exposure, someone in the parking lot hit the unlock button on their car. The flash of their lights caught the tree in front of me and turned it red. I couldn’t have planned it, and that little pop of color is what makes the frame.
Up in the right corner is the Pleiades, the star cluster also called the Seven Sisters. I confirmed it in a star tracking app afterward. From a dark sky like Sedona’s you can see it with your own eyes.
