Lake Manly Cloudscape Print – Limited Edition

A vast cloudscape mirrored at Death Valley’s Lake Manly, captured just after sunrise during the rare 2026 reflooding of Badwater Basin’s salt flats.

Lake Manly, Death Valley – 2026

This is the print that doesn’t quite feel like a photograph so much as a place to stand inside. Walking onto the flooded salt flats at Badwater Basin felt closer to stepping into one of those immersive wraparound exhibits at the Sphere than standing on the floor of Death Valley. Clouds wrapped overhead, clouds wrapped underfoot, and the only things holding the scene to the earth were a thin line of distant mountains and four tiny silhouettes giving everything its scale.

Captured on March 28, 2026, about half an hour after first light, when the sun had finally warmed the cloudscape into soft peach and gold. Same Nikon Zf with the 24mm f/1.8 Nikkor and circular polarizer, same impossibly still water from the rare 2026 reflooding of the basin. By 7:30 a.m. the deep blue of pre-dawn had given way to a sky full of pastel cloud, fully reflected and fully matched in the glass below.

This is the expansive print of the Lake Manly Series, for anyone drawn to scale, sky, and the kind of light that briefly makes a place feel weightless.
